"Health Care Innovation: CardioMEMS HF System" is a good example of a paper on the health system. Approved by the FDA in April 2014, the CardioMEMS HF System is a healthcare innovation capable of changing the way hospitals treat patients with heart failure (Husten, 2014). The first of its kind, this innovation monitors a patient’ s heart to prevent any potential failures. The CardioMEMS HF System is implanted surgically into a patient’ s circulatory system to observe and record heart activity regularly and foresee any potential failures. This innovation is the pioneering wireless, inserted device with distant observing capabilities over blood pressure in the pulmonary artery (Husten, 2014). The FDA proved that the device could lower the admittance of heart failure patients substantially and better the ways of life for class III patients.
Since the admission of heart failure patients would lower drastically, the healthcare system would see a decrease in the catering and care costs for class III patients. Patients over 65 years account for most hospitalizations caused by heart failure (Husten, 2014). I believe this innovation will decrease healthcare spending on hospitalization and all forms of care associated with it.
Hospitals that begin using the CardioMEMS HF System on their heart failure patients will strengthen their position in the industry (Husten, 2014). Directly measuring pressure in the pulmonary artery from a remote area offers physicians a huge advantage of managing the condition. This innovation is likely to be a trend in the future because of its ability to turn a healthcare organization into an industry leader. According to the FDA, the innovation is secure and proficient for managing heart failure patients with the aim of lowering the rate of heart failure-associated admissions in given patients (Husten, 2014).
This goal is common amongst many cardiologists and heart researchers across the world.
