"Why Are You Pursuing Further Education in Nursing? " is an engrossing example of a paper on care.   Professional education and exposure to nursing has taught me the worth of human life and helped me to be part of a professional system that upholds the spirit of dedicated service. Nursing, as envisaged by Florence Nightingale is a service that involves holistic involvement in terms of dedication, knowledge, and commitment. The involvement in nursing processes gives me immense professional and personal satisfaction. Nursing practices with reference to the advancements in the philosophy, science, and technology of medical processes undergo continuous advancements.

It becomes the responsibility of a nursing practitioner to have frequent updating in newly introduced technologies and policies in medical practices. In other words, it is important for a nurse to have professional development in accordance with the developments in the industry.   Staying abreast with the advancements in the industry will be decisive in my professional advancement as a nurse. Thus it is important that I work towards the achievement of professional competencies as required by the modern nursing industry. There have been several competencies identified which are to be mandatorily achieved by a nursing professional.

Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council has classified the several competencies required for a registered nurse under four domains including; professional practice, critical thinking and analysis, provision and coordination of care, and collaborative and therapeutic practice (ANMC, 2006). I would like to peruse further education in nursing so that I have a focused approach in acquiring these competencies. Higher education in nursing will expose me to scientific resources in preparing me for these competencies. I will make sure that I contribute effectively to the professional nursing environment that I involve with.

The knowledge I acquire on professional, ethical, and legal responsibilities as a nursing practitioner will be shared with other students so that a larger cohesive development of the nursing setting is possible. It will also be contributing towards the organizational goal of a professional medical setting that I am engaged with. It has been reported that the professional development of nurses will determine the way in which the health care system develops nationally and internationally (Wats et al, 2004). The processes and practices associated with nursing practice involve working in teams of varied natures and the total outcome would depend on the performance of each team member.

Thus my contribution to the team in creating a cohesive learning environment will be largely helpful. I will use my leadership skills to build good working teams and will initiate both curricular and co-curricular activities that would encourage the students to come together as a team. In general, I will serve as a good team maker.   Kernick (1999) has described several areas where partnership serves as the key to success.

I will identify these areas and will contribute to the holistic development of all the students. Willis, Condon, and Litt (2000) have commented on the importance of approaching nursing care as a shared and joint responsibility. I am sure that I will be able to help the other students to develop a feeling of togetherness, which will largely contribute to the nursing environment I am in.
